11 June, 2026 – 12 June, 2026
This two-day workshop brings together philosophers who work on naturalistic accounts of function and dysfunction, especially biological and etiological approaches, to explore how these accounts affect the nature of health and disorder in psychiatry and somatic medicine. A central aim is to clarify how function-talk can illuminate contested boundary cases, such as mismatch versus dysfunction, partial or graded dysfunction, and the relationship between harm and dysfunction. This workshop builds on the discussion started at the 2024 London workshop on this topic.
Attendance is open, although speaking slots are full. If you would like to attend, please contact: functionworkshop26@gmail.com
